A description of the Map Modernization will be discussed with the status of where TN is in the project. Also, links to data and FEMA’s websites will be displayed. A short instruction on how to determine flood zones in ArcMap will complete the session.

Securing Grants Presentation – There are millions of dollars in grants that can be secured. The easiest way to secure a grant? Ask. If you don’t ask you will never get it. Planning is key to grant writing. You don’t have to be a “grant writer†to be able to secure grants. With a little planning and a few words anyone can write a grant. Wise County has been fortunate to secure a few dollars in funding over the past several years. Jessica will share some of her thoughts on securing grants in these tough economic times.

12:30 – 1:00 Fall Eastern Regional TNGIC Conference Discussion – David Light
The original plans were for the Knoxville Area group(s) to host and lead the planning for the conference. However, during the last TNGIC board meeting, we were informed that the Knoxville area group(s) would not be able to devote the time required to lead the conference. Consequently, this places the East Tennessee Regional Fall TNGIC Conference at risk of being cancelled unless we can quickly pull together resources for planning and hosting the conference.
We plan to discuss the possibility of the NETGIS group attempting to plan the East Tennessee Regional Fall TNGIC Conference at our next NETGIS meeting planned for Friday August 27th. Up for discussion will be the location of the conference, speakers/presenters, seeking volunteers to help plan the event, etc. We will also discuss the possibility of canceling the event.
If you have ideas or suggestions for the conference discussion, please reply to this note and we will try to include them in the discussion.

On June 11th NETGIS will be hosting an introduction to ArcGIS Server Workshop presented by ESRI.
The workshop will be held at the Eastman Lodge, in Kingsport TN.
This complimentary workshop will teach you how to utilize ArcGIS Server and will cover best practices that will help your organization progress in the Web 2.0 environment.
The workshop will cover:
- A step by step overview of map publishing from ArcGIS Desktop into an ArcGIS Server application
- Detailed discussion on ArcGIS Server topics including installation and configuration, how to set-up and publish data, and utilization of cached map services
- How to use available resources from ESRI and the user community for your ArcGIS Server applications
